These photographs were taken by a visitor to the church in 1935, who sent the vicar copies. They are reputed to have been taken by a German spy who believed the church would make a good landmark for air raids against the airfield that then existed on the opposite site of the road, near Charcott, which was used as a 'standby' for Croydon Airport.
Quite why a 'German spy' would want a picture of the interior of the church isn't explained!
